2009 Women’s Leadership Council Grant Application Process
The Women’s Leadership Council is committed to strengthening the community through a focused investment of their own time, talent, and treasure. At the May 7, 2008 Women’s Leadership Council meeting, participants chose to focus the Council’s grant funding on issues concerning middle school aged girls specifically violence and self-esteem, and youth literacy. The interest of the Women’s Leadership Council is to promote the development of strong female leaders and therefore has a focus on engaging young females. As a result of current community needs and the United Way funds allocated to programs dealing with youth violence, this year’s Women’s Leadership Council grant funding will focus on youth literacy. Out of these programs the Council would like to see:

• Development of literacy skills in young females
• An increase in female youth self-esteem and self-confidence
• An increase in female academic and future career performance
